Matthew Caruana Galizia says Fenech verdict can ‘never be accepted’

Matthew Caruana Galizia described the acquittal of Yorgen Fenech, who stood accused of masterminding the assassination of his mother, as “obscene” and “pure evil.”

“I hope jurors emerge from their cave and realise what they have done,” Caruana Galizia said on Facebook.

He said the verdict felt as though the jury had been handed the burner phone and sent the SMS to “blow up [his] mother” all over again.

Caruana Galizia insisted that what had taken place in Hall 22 over the past two months was not justice, but instead flew in the face of the evidence, logic, the truth, and what he described as the accused’s own admission of guilt.

He concluded by insisting that the verdict finding Fenech not guilty on both counts can “never be accepted, no matter what.”
