Abela welcomes Malta’s highest-ever DBRS credit rating
The prime minister pledges continued stability for families and businesses in Malta as uncertainty grows in other countries
Malta has received its highest credit rating yet from international credit rating agency DBRS, achieving an A rating with a stable trend, Prime Minister Robert Abela said.
On Saturday morning, Abela took to Facebook to highlight the report’s findings, which he said also confirmed that Malta’s deficit would remain below 3% of GDP, while national debt would remain moderate.
According to Abela, these two factors demonstrate Malta’s economic stability at a time of growing uncertainty in other countries.
He also noted that while other countries are facing additional costs, Malta has seen a reduction in the tax burden.
Furthermore, Abela said Malta’s economy is growing at four times the European average, attributing this growth in part to government subsidies that have shielded Maltese families from rising fuel and energy prices.
The prime minister concluded by pledging continued stability for families and businesses in Malta.
