€350 million investment: Robert Abela visits Hard Rock Hotel Malta
Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the new five-star hotel, featuring 400 rooms, and multiple dining and entertainment venues, representing a €350 million investment by the db Group
Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the new Hard Rock Hotel Malta on Tuesday, a project representing an investment of approximately €350 million by the db Group.
Abela was accompanied by his wife, Lydia Abela, and Tourism Minister Jo Etienne Abela.
“An investment of this nature is not measured solely by its scale or the facilities it creates; it is also measured by the opportunities it opens up for our people. We are talking about hundreds of new jobs and careers across various sectors of the hospitality industry,” Abela said, highlighting employment opportunities in catering, hotel administration, entertainment, fitness, and other specialised services.
The five-star hotel features 400 rooms, several swimming pools, more than 10 restaurants, bars and entertainment venues, as well as high-end wellness and fitness facilities.
Abela said the investment had brought one of the hospitality and entertainment sector’s most renowned brands to Malta, adding that the project aligned with the country’s push towards higher-quality tourism.
He said that, having reached significant milestones in tourist numbers, Malta’s priority was now to offer “more compelling reasons for visitors to choose Malta”. This included encouraging tourists to extend their stays, visit at different times of the year and seek out higher-quality experiences.
Abela also highlighted the importance of economic stability and confidence in the future in attracting investments of this scale.
He referred to government measures, including subsidies aimed at maintaining stability, and reiterated the government’s commitment to continuing along this path.
“Stability means providing certainty to those who wish to invest and plan for the future. We achieve this by taking timely decisions, anticipating challenges, and continuing to build an economy that inspires confidence in both families and businesses,” Abela said.
