President Tabone laid to rest in Gozo

President Censu Tabone is laid to rest in Xewkija, Gozo after the State funeral held at St John's Co-Cathedral Valletta yesterday.

President Emeritus Censu Tabone was laid to rest yesterday afternoon in his hometown of Xewkija in Gozo.

His corpse was transferred from Malta to Gozo by means of an Armed Forces of Malta patrol boat.

The State funeral of Dr Tabone started off yesterday morning after his coffin was mounted on an AFM gun carriage outside the palace and escorted by army band members who played funeral marches all the way to St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta where Mass was held.

Six AFM pall bearers carried the coffin into the cathedral while hundreds of onlookers clapped.

The mourners were led by Dr Tabone’s wife and his family,

The former President passed away aged 99 on Wednesday and the corpse laid in State until yesterday morning.

Photography sure can tell a lie. Everyone was going about their business on what was a beautiful day - and generally ignored the whole show they tried to put up. And please don't even suggest I am am being disrespectful - turning the death of a person to further promote an agenda and a rapacious political class - that is disrespectful!
