PL deputy leader Toni Abela, who currently finds himself in the middle of a political storm has firmly denied ever being involved in any wrongdoing.
Speaking to Sunday newspaper illum, Abela reveals the identity of the person behind the infamous recordings
"The only thing that emerges from those recordings is that I did my duty. I am being put through an ordeal that I absolutely do not deserve," Abela said.
The recording is being used as a political football by the PN, with prime minister Gonzi calling for Abela's resignation.

Maybe sammutf can speak very easily about this case. Sammutf, what do you do if one of your familu members are caught red-handed in your house. You report them to the Police? Abela had no evidence and had no case. Abela at least kicked-off the suspect and banned him. As the Maltese say, WARA KULHADD GHAREF.

From where I'm sitting my opinion is that Dr. Abela should have reported the matter to the police, period. I think that you sir went beyond your call of duty as Deputy Leader for party affairs. Your duty was to report especially since drug substance was the main issue. To aggrevate matters, you had to go to the police station and did what you did, whatever it is you did. Your only cause to go to the police was to report a criminal activity in one of your clubs and damn the consequences. This I think while sitting pretty on the fence!

Maybe Dr Abela's ordeal is serving to help the Labour Party gain more votes as by now many people are realizing that the Nationalist Party has little to offer as instead of explaining their projects for future they have dug themselves in the past and are just trying to derail the electoral campaign as they cannot beat the Labour Party on future plans for the country.
