[WATCH] Referendum a ‘historic moment’ – SHout

SHout calls referendum a historic chance to change as over 93% of registered voters have collected their documents

Referendum a 'historic moment' - SHout

SHout spokesperson Mark Sultana said that the signs were clear and that Maltese and Gozitans would definitely be voting in this referendum.

“This is a historic chance to change,” he said at a press conference in Bisazza Street this evening.

“Since last Monday 3,358 voters have collected their referendum voting documents from the electoral commission in Naxxar. It appears that out of 338,447 registered voters for the referendum, 315,739 are in possession of a voting document,” Sultana said.

Sultana said that Parliament is the highest legislative body in Malta and that it was elected by direct universal suffrage and personal secret ballot.

“This referendum has now given everyone the opportunity to take the decision into one’s own hands because we can now vote for positive change without involving parliament and the parliamentarians,” he explained.

“Out there is a silent mass of people who are willing to vote and to vote NO.  They are silent, but they know what to do, because their message is our message. Their conviction is our conviction.”

Sultana reiterated SHout’s conviction that Malta and Gozo deserve a  better spring without bird killing and with a countryside that belongs to everyone.

SHout ambassadors Alison Bezzina, Coryse Borg, Moira Delia, Frank Zammit, Ganni Zammit, Iggy Fenech, Pierre Portelli, Renzo Spiteri, Saviour Balzan and Mark Sultana, who were all present in Bisazza street, symbolically chose to vote No on the ballot sheet.

The ambassadors encouraged the public to join them in voting No in next Saturday's referendum.
