Residents enraged at sewage outflow in Valley Road, Birkirkara

Drainage flow in Valley Road, Birkirkara has caused discomfort to residents and businesses in the area.

Readers have sent in images and complaints and informed this newsroom that the problem has been persistent with every rain-fall.

“The small amount of rain we had today, has somehow still resulted in a large amount of drainage accumulating since the early hours of the morning,” said a shop owner in the area.

“We of course have to close shop in such instances,” he said, adding that numerous calls to water services department have not yet solved the problem, despite the occasional presence of workmen on the site.

He added that besides the loss of business, the drainage leak also results in an extremely hazardous and unsanitary situation.
