Civil Liberties Minister Helena Dalli was last night awarded the hero of the year title during the European Diversity Awards.

Amongst other matters under Dalli’s leadership, Malta saw saw the introduction of civil unions and the enactment of a law that removes the arguably extreme legal requirements for transgender, intersex and gender queer people to have their gender identity recognized by the state,

Since their launch six years ago, the European Diversity Awards have become the continent’s most prestigious and widely respected diversity event.
