The man arrived from Brussels and passed through the Blue Channel at Malta International Airport’s arrivals lounge, when officials found a black file at the bottom of his luggage, underneath all his belongings and called for further searching and testing.

According to customs, the file was re-examined and “three packages were found hidden in the interior of the file’s side”.  One contained a “brownish powder”, whilst the other two, “one with white powder and the other with a brownish powder” were found to be attached together on the other side.

Narcotic field tests “indicated that the brownish powder to be heroin, whilst white powder to be cocaine”, said customs.

The passenger has been arraigned and is currently being investigated by the police.
