3,000 killed in Syria protests - UN

3,000 people died in Syria over seven months of protests against President Bashard al-Assad according to the United Nations.

At least 187 children have been reported dead and hundreds have been arrested since the start of the seven month-long protest in demonstrations called ‘Free soldiers’ referring to the thousands who have defected.

As thousands rallied on Friday, at least 11 more protesters were killed by security forces according to activists. More than 100 have been reported dead over the past 10 days according to a UN report.

‘Terrorist gangs’ are being blamed by the Damascus government for the chaos and 1,100 security forces members have been killed.

Protesters have been appealing to the military to join a rebel army and abandon President Assad’s regime.

An emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers has been demanded for Sunday by six Gulf nations to discuss Syria’s unrest.

When you see how the UN acted in Libya's case and how it didn't act in Syria's, one would come to the conclusion that the UN (together with NATO), are just tools in the hand of the US to safeguard US interests.
