Laamouz takes title in Falken Cup in Sweden

Maltese boxer Haithem Laamouz won the Falken Cup in the 64kg weight category on Sunday 29 September in Gavle, Sweden.

Haithem beat Sweden's Simon Svesson in the final round on Sunday in a technical knockout in the second round. In the semifinals he beat Kabir Miehrabi, again in a technical knockout in the second round.

Andre Moazed, trained by Laamouz also won the 17-year-old junior class at the same tournament.

Laamouz started his training with former Commonwealth Boxing Champion, Scott Dixon in 2008 and now manages his own training from Lord's Gym in St Julian's.

This cup comes after a string of wins over the last year. Laamouz beat the Swiss champion, Meuli Zino, in the 64kg last June at a match up in Chur in Switzerland, won the BK Kelly Box Open Tournament in Orebo, Sweden in May, two match ups in London in May, and the Uppsala Box Open in Sweden in January.
