The midfielder became the only Croat player to score in two European championships after beating Babacan.

Although Croatia dominated from the beginning, the first half an hour was quite frustrating with no side registering a shot on target until Tufan's header which was neutralised by Subasic.

With half time approaching, it had to be a wonder goal by the Real Madrid midfielder to break the deadlock. Croatia were very close to double the score when Srna hit the crossbar from a free kick. Ivan Rakitic also had a number of chances to seal the game for Croatia with Babacan making important saves. However, Antonio Cacic's men still managed to come out with the 3 points ahead of Monday's game between Spain and Czech Republic.
