Hibernians continue perfect run

Hibernians continued their perfect start to the season as they made it seven wins in as many matches to remain top of the BOV Premier League standings.

Hibernians 2

Mosta started on the attack and Bojan Kaljevic had his powerful shot deflected by Hibernians goalkeeper Mario Muscat.
The first half ended goalless with both team having their fair share of chances.
Hibernians managed to take the lead six minutes into the second half when they were awarded a penalty. The referee pointed to the penalty spot after Kane Farrugia brought Edison Luis dos Santos down inside the area. Clayton Failla beat goalkeeper Omar Borg with his shot from the penalty spot.
Hibernians were reduced to ten men on the 56th minute after Ryan Camilleri received his second yellow card.
Hibernians continued to press even though they were playing with ten men. Zoran Levnajic almost doubled the score for Hibernians but he was unlucky to his the cross bar.
In added time, Hibernians managed to double their lead. Obinna Obiefule had his shot blocked by goalkeeper Omar Borg, but off the rebound, Obiefule would not be denied.
Rodolfo Soares was voted BOV Player of the Match.

Birkirkara 1
Qormi 1

Birkirkara did not get the result they wanted as they played to a 1-1 draw against Qormi.
This would be a positive result for Qormi as they managed to stop their three match-losing streak.
The first half would end goalless as Birkirkara could not break down the Qormi defence.
Finally, Birkirkara managed to take the lead on the 62nd minuite. Off a pass by Frank Temile, Haruna Shola Shodiya beat goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia with his powerful shot from outside the area.
The joy of behind ahead for Birkirkara did not last long as Qormi managed to score the equaliser just six minutes later.
A cross by Leonardo Gabrielli was partially saved by goalkeeper Justin Haber and off the rebound Ricardo Innocenti easily beat Haber with his shot.
Paul Fenech was voted BOV Player of the Match.

Vittoriosa Stars 2
Tarxien Rainbows 2

Vittoriosa Stars and Tarxien Rainbows played to a 2-2 draw to share the points.
Tarxien took the lead on the 40th minute. Off a cross by Everton Souza Santos, Ronaille Calheira Seara beat goalkeeper Jean Mathias Vella with his header.
On the 55th minute, Vittoriosa managed to score the equaliser. Gilbert Martin beat goalkeeper Nicholas Vella with his powerful shot.
Tarxien went ahead again on the 69th minute. Jorge Santos Silve managed to conclude a fantastic run dribbling past the goalkeeper to place the ball at the back of the net to make it 2-1.
Vittoriosa were reduced to ten men when Jose Felipe Aguiar was sent off on ther 78th minute.
Tarxien were not given a chance to take advantage of Vittoriosa being one man down because just one minute later, Vittoriosa managed to score the equaliser. Oscar Guerrero easily beat goalkeeper Nicholas Vella after he received a pass from Marcelo Pereira.
Oscar Dario Guerrero was voted BOV Player of the Match.

Balzan 0
Floriana 0

Balzan and Floriana played to goalless draw to share the spoils.
Both teams had numerous chances on goal, but all were unsuccessful.
On the 24th minute, Balzan had the first scoring opportunity as Jose Luis Armario Negrin had his shot cleared by Andre Scicluna. Floriana replied five minutes later when a Daniel Bogdaovic freekick went wide.
Floriana went close to scoring in stoppage time. Diogo Pinheiro had his powerful shot from close range saved by Dani Miguelez to keep the score 0-0.
Emmanuel Idet Ebok was voted BOV Player of the Match.
