Valletta BOV Premier League Champions 2010/2011

Birkirkara and Hamrun play to a 2-2 draw.

Valletta were crowned champions of the BOV Premier League for the 20th time after they defeated Marsaxlokk 1-0.

This victory for Valletta has extended their unbeaten run to thirty matches. The last time Valletta were defeated was in March 2010 against Birkirkara.

Valletta scored the only goal in the match seven minutes into the second half. Ryan Fenech served Roderick Briffa who then chipped the ball over Marsaxlokk goalkeeper Reuben Gauci.

In the other match of the day, Birkirkara and Hamrun played to a 2-2 draw.

10 minutes into the match, Birkirkara were awarded a penalty. Karl Magro brought down Ibrahim Babatunde down inside the area. Rowen Muscat’s attempt from the penalty spot was saved by Hamrun Spartans goalkeeper Omar Borg.

Just three minutes later, Birkirkara went ahead when Ibrahim Babatunde beat the Hamrun goalkeeper with his shot.

On the 15th minute mark, off a corner kick, Dyson Falzon beat Birkirkara’s goalkeeper Manual Bartolo with his shot from outside the area.

Birkirkara went ahead again on the 20th  minute. Babatunde served Trevor Cilia who concluded with a powerful shot that the Hamrun goalkeeper could not hold.

Harmrun denied Birkirkara from taking home all three points five points into the second half. Marcelo Pereira was spot on with his shot from the right.

Three minutes in added time Birkirkara were reduced to ten-men after Paul Fenech picked up his second yellow card for a foul on Nikolai Chipev.
