Mosta defeated Pembroke Athleta 2-0 to get back to winning ways after their defeat to Naxxar last weekend.

Mosta went close to taking the lead just three minutes into the match. Pembroke’s Patmore Shereni brought Saviour Fidelis down inside the area; referee Malcolm Spiteri sent off the defender and immediately pointed to the penalty spot. From the spot, Saviour Fidelis saw his shot go wide.

Mosta again were denied a goal on the fifth minute when Manolito Micallef’s shot hit the crossbar before it was cleared.

Mosta managed to take the lead on the 61st minute. Edin Murga’s cross from the right was deflected into the net by Pembroke’s Zoran Levnaic for an own goal.

Mosta went close to double the lead on the 75th minute when Murga had an excellent chance to score but was denied veteran goalkeeper Mario Muscat.

Mosta then sealed victory on the 85th minute when off a cross from the right by Edin Murga, substitute Dyson Falzon beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his shot.
