The hero of the match for Sliema was Michael Mifsud as he scored both goals, ending his goal drought.

Pembroke looked to be the better side in the first half, but they failed to take advantage of their chances, which they were to regret in the second half.

Just after 12 minutes of play after the change of posts, Sliema managed to take the lead. Rafael Ledesma’s precise pass released Michael Mifsud who then went on to beat goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia from inside the area.

Sliema made sure they would collect all three points when they doubled their lead on the 74th minute. Ledesma again served Michael Mifsud and the veteran striker made no mistake to double Sliema’s lead when he beat Pembroke’s goalkeeper with a powerful shot.

This victory puts Sliema level with Pembroke on the 17-point mark.
