Gżira created the first opportunity after five minutes when from Gianmarco Conti’s cross, Robert De Pinho De Souza headed wide.

Four minutes later, Mosta managed to go ahead. Njongo Priso went inside the penalty area from the right flank and fired a low shot that ended up behind Jurgen Borg to make it 1-0.

On the 25th minute, Borg had to be on the alert to deny Mosta. Martin Vlcek sent Gabriel Bezak through, but the young goalkeeper blocked his effort.

Gżira responded on the 36th minute when Conti attempted an acrobatic effort from the edge of the penalty area that went wide of the post.

Five minutes before the break, Conti threatened the Mosta defence once again. The Italian attempted a shot from inside the penalty area. However, Emmanuel Bartolo managed to neutralise his effort.

One minute into the second half, Conti forced a great save from Emmanuel Bartolo. The twenty four year old found space and fired a shot from outside the penalty area that was tipped over by the Mosta goalkeeper.

Mosta responded four minutes later through Bezak. The Slovakian won the ball on the right side of the penalty area and fired a shot that went centimetres wide.

The Maroons pushed forward in their attempts to score an equaliser and managed to do so on the 66th minute. From a corner, Clifford Gatt Baldacchino slotted the ball past Bartolo.

Endmond Lufi’s side regained the lead a minute later when Lucky Victor Oseghale sent a stunning shot that gave Borg no chance.

Oseghale attempted another shot on the 73rd minute that ended up wide.

Ten minutes from time, Gżira’s efforts to pull level took a setback when Joceano Da Silva Santos was sent off after being shown his second yellow card.

A heated argument at the end of the match forced two other sending offs. Robert De Pinho De Souza of Gżira was sent off for a violent conduct, while Mosta’s Njongo Priso was shown his second yellow card.
