Valletta and Balzan earn a point each

Valletta and Balzan earned a point each after holding each other in a 2-2 draw.

After nine minutes, Balzan went close when Justin Grioli’s shot forced a good save from Henry Bonello.

On the 13th minute, Nafti saw his shot ending up few centimetres wide.

Valletta responded a minute later when Jhonnattan Benites managed to get inside the penalty area, but his shot ended up wide.

The Citizens managed to go ahead on the 16th minute. Malano’s ball found Aguirre, who finished behind Janjusevic.

Balzan tried to pull an equaliser and were close when Nafti sent the ball towards Kaljevic, but the Montenegrin striker finished wide.

Paul Zammit’s side doubled the score on the brink of half time. Umeh Uchena Kalistus fired a shot from outside the penalty area that gave the Balzan goalkeeper no chance.

Balzan started the second half on the attack and managed to reduce the margin on the 50th minute. Effiong passed the ball towards Kaljevic, whose shot ended up behind Bonello.

Four minutes leter, Oliver Spiteri’s side managed to pull an equaliser. Kaljevic headed the ball towards Nafti, who fired home.

Balzan kept on putting pressure and threatened again on the 65th minute. Picciolo delivered the ball towards Effiong, but  the striker’s effort went wide.

A minute later, Bonello had to be on the alert to deny Picciolo. The Italian player tried his luck from outside the penalty area, but the Valletta goalkeeper deflected the ball for a corner.

On the 72nd minute, Valletta responded through Umeh Calistus who saw his shot being neutralised by Janjusevic.
