Despite Valletta controlling much of the possession in the first half, both sides failed to create a serious threat towards the opposing goalkeeper. The only chances came thorugh Jean Borg and Jhonnattann Benites da Conceicao of Valletta who saw their efforts going wide.

In the second half, Valletta pushed forward in their attempts to go ahead.

Jhonnattann fired a shot that was saved by Andrea Cassar.

Few minutes later, the Tarxien goalkeeper was on the alert once more  to deny Santiago Malano.

Tarxien conceded on the 75th minute. Leandro Aguiree delivered the ball towards Michael Mifsud who went inside the penalty area before firing a volley that gave Cassar no chance.

Following this result, Valletta kept pace with Birkirkara and Balzan, while Tarxien sit tenth in the table after failing to win in four matches.
