The Maroons took the initiative from the start and created the first chance of the match. From a free kick, Andrew Cohen forced a difficult save from Yenz Cini.

Mosta hit back through Njongo Priso. The striker hit a shot that was neutralised by Jurgen Borg.

Gżira went ahead on the 52nd minute. Moises Avila Perez saw his effort being blocked by Mosta’s defenders. Possession fell for Zachary Scerri who finished inside the net.

This goal was followed by some arguments between the technical staff of both sides. Referee Alan Mario Sant sent off Gżira’s coach, Darren Abdilla, and Mosta’s assistant coach, Johann Scicluna.

On the 76th minute, Gżira increased the margin of the score. Juan Carlos Corbalan served Gianmarco Conti and the latter had his initial effort blocked by Cini. However, rebound fell for the Italian who hit another shot at goal that went past the Mosta goalkeeper.

Ten minutes later, Gżira scored their third goal. Carlos Alejandro Reyna went on the right flank and fired a shot that gave Cini no chance.

Mosta scored a consolation goal on the 90th minute. From a free kick, Pedro Calcado found Tyrone Farrugia who headed home.

However, there was still time for Gżira to score again. Tyrone Farrugia fouled Abdullahi Ige Adeshina inside the penalty area and the referee pointed towards the spot. From the eleven metres mark, Reyna made no mistake and converted past Cini.
