Mosta registered a 2-1 win over Ħamrun Spartans as their hopes of playing the decider match are slowly materialising.

Mosta had a good opportunity on the 25th minute. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza went on a good run before hitting a shot that was saved by Andrea Cassar. From the rebound, Njongo Priso passed the ball towards Mifsud Triganza who finished wide from close range.

Ħamrun went ahead on the 42nd minute. Following a corner, Saturday Nanapere served Massimialo Giusti and the latter placed the ball behind Andreas Vella.

Three minutes later, the Spartans were dangerous again. Giusti delivered the ball inside the penalty area towards Jake Grech but the young captain finished off target.

On the 49th minute, Giusti fired a shot that forced a good save from Vella.

Mosta equalised on the 54th minute. Kyle Frendo sent a shot that was parried by David Cassar. Rebound fell for David Fenech who hit a powerful drive from distance that ended up inside the net.

Johann Scicluna’s side scored the winning goal on the 78th minute. Pedro Dos Santos Calcado sent Priso through and Cameroonian footballer finished past Cassar.

Following this result, Mosta are seven points clear of bottom placed Pembroke Athleta who are now closer than ever to suffer relegation.
