The first chance of the match was created by Sliema on the 40th minute. Younes Marzouk played Claudio Pani through on goal, but the latter failed to hit the target.

On the other end, Dunstan Vella drilled a shot from distance that ended up marginally off target.

Hibernians started the second half on the attack and threatened Sliema on the 52nd minute. Dunstan Vella’s delivery from a corner was met by Nemanja Radojevic who just missed the target.

However, the Paolites scored the winning goal a minute later. Joseph Mbong went inside the penalty area before delivering the ball towards the unmarked Marcolino who placed it inside the net.

The post denied the Wanderers from equalising on the 70th minute as Frank Temile saw his effort hitting the crossbar following a corner.

During the remaining minutes, Hibernians remained organised to take a home another precious three points.
