Birkirkara bounced back from last week’s defeat against Ħamrun with a 2-0 win over Sliema Wanderers.

Birkirkara forged ahead on the 39th minute. Jake Grech’s delivery from a corner went into the path of Michael Mifsud and the latter headed the ball home from close range.

Paul Zammit’s side were reduced to ten men on the 62nd minute. Danilo Chapoval was shown his second yellow card following a foul on Amehi Kilian.

Sliema had a player sent off as well on the 90th minute. This time it was Kilian who was given his marching orders after being shown his second yellow card of the match.

Birkirkara sealed the issue moments later. Mifsud received the ball from Marcelinho de Siquiera and fired a shot that gave Jake Galea no chance.

Following this result, Birkirkara are now just one point behind Sliema Wanderers.
