Conscious that Floriana were defeated, Gzira came into this match eager to win in order to move just three points behind the Greens.

On the other end, Hamrun are going through a period of transition. This is also reflected in the changes they recently made to their squad.

Such scenario meant that the pressure was on Gzira in order to reduce the gap with Floriana so that they keep on believing that they can win their first ever Premier League.

Gzira made their intentions clear from the start and managed to break the deadlock on the 18th minute. Wilfried Domoraud’s cross from the left was met by Hamed Kone whose header hit the crossbar before ending up inside the net.
