Alternattiva Demokratika has become the second political party in Malta to call for the resignation of Judge Lino Farrugia Sacco and Malta Olympic Commission secretary general Joe Cassar.

The first call was made yesterday by the Nationalist Party.

In a statement, the Green Party said it had noted contents of the investigation by the Ethics Committee of the International Olympic Committee which concluded that both Farrugia Sacco and Joe Cassar were prepared to violate the rules of the Olympic Movement.

"We consider that Farrugia Sacco Cassar should resign forthwith from their MOC posts," AD's deputy chairperson Carmel Cacopardo said.

He said that AD regretted that an investigation requested by Justice Minister Chris Said on 19 June has not been concluded by the Commission for the Administration of Justice.

"In view of the conclusions of the Ethics Committee of the IOC Alternattiva Demokratika requests that this Commission pulls up its socks and conclude its investigation at the earliest," Cacopardo said.
