Giacomo Camilleri joins Spanish club BC Badajoz

Maltese basketball prospect Giacomo Camilleri has joined Spanish club BC Badajoz, with the 16-year-old set to feature for the club’s U18 team as he continues his development in Spain.

Standing at 1.83m, Camilleri can play at both point guard and shooting guard and has represented Malta at both U16 and U18 level.

He arrives in Spain after helping Malta finish second at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket Division C this summer, averaging six rebounds and 4.5 assists per game during the tournament.

Camilleri previously developed with Starlites Basketball Club, where he collected several youth and senior honours before making the move abroad.

The switch to BC Badajoz will see Camilleri compete in the Spanish youth basketball system, giving him the opportunity to gain experience against higher-level opposition while continuing his technical and tactical development.

The move represents another step in the young Maltese player's development as he looks to build on his experience with the national teams and Starlites.
