Micallef signs off GB3 in style at Donington Park

Jacob Micallef made his return to the GB3 Championship this past weekend, joining Hitech for what was his final round of the campaign at Donington Park. Having dipped into the series across select rounds this year, the young Maltese driver made sure to leave it with a performance to remember.

Micallef set the tone early, topping out P6 overall across Friday's free practice sessions, a solid base to build the weekend from. Saturday's qualifying didn't go entirely to plan, leaving him P11 on the grid for Race 1. He wasted no time going on the attack, gaining three positions off the start to run P8 and close in on P6, before a penalty dropped him back to P11 at the flag.

Sunday brought two more races and two more fights back through the field. Starting Race 2 dead last on the grid, Micallef went to work from lap one, clawing back multiple positions to cross the line P12. Race 3 was a battle from start to finish, and he brought it home in P9, a strong note to end his GB3 campaign on.

Reflecting on his time in GB3, Micallef was quick to share the credit around: "This closes out my GB3 campaign, huge thank you to everyone who made it possible: to my family, my management, to the whole team for a great car every round, and to my teammates for the energy on and off the track. It's been a pleasure learning from the best."

While his GB3 chapter is now closed, Micallef's 2026 season is far from over. He turns his full focus back to the Spanish F4 Championship, where he continues to build on a strong rookie campaign. The next round takes him to Circuito de Jerez on 25 to 27 September.

Looking ahead, Micallef added: "GB3 gave me a brilliant platform to test myself against a really strong field, and I'm taking a lot from it. But right now my head is straight back on Spanish F4, we've got good momentum going into Jerez, and I want to keep pushing for more strong results as we head into the business end of the season."
