EVENINGS ON CAMPUS – WEEK ONE JULY 26 Opening night – MIRCA tour for human rights Opening of the overarching exhibition for the Evenings on Campus festival at KSU Common Room, 21:00. The MTHR, which has already been shown in Sweden, consists of the original works of 70 artists from 28 countries. Judge Giovanni Bonello, former Judge of the European Court of Human Rights at Strasbourg will open the exhibition. The exhibition will remain open until August 12. Opening hours: 09:00-13:00 and 30 minutes before all Evenings on Campus performances. JULY 27 Marco Carnicelli, Guitarist The well known Italian guitarist, Marco Vinicio Carnicelli will perform some of the most famous pieces from the classical music repertoire at Atriju Vassali, University Campus – from the brilliant Venezuelan rhythms of Antonio Lauro to the passionate melodies and Spanish dances of Miguel Llobet, Joaquin Turina, Manuel de Falla and Moreno-Torroba. JULY 29 Summer Tones by Equinox Trio Performance by pianist Tricia Dawn Williams, clarinettist Lino Pirotta and violinist Tatjana Chircop at KSU Common Room, University Campus at 21:00. JULY 30, 31 Is-Simposju Adaptation of Plato’s Symposium at Institute of Earth Systems Courtyard (CP6), University Campus at 21:00. AUGUST 1 The Colour Purple Screening of the Steven Spielberg film at ICT – Engineering, Courtyard (cp2), University Campus at 21:00. The film is rated 16. Tickets at €8 are available at the door. Tickets for the film are at €5, and entrance to the exhibition is free. NIGHTLIFE FRIDAYS Gianpula Fridays 17 nights of partying (starting from May 27) featuring DJs Pierre Cordina, Tony Tony, Clayton J, JJoy, Ruby, Joseph Armani, Toby, MyKill and Carl Bee at the Main Room and Groove Gardens of Gianpula, limits of Rabat from 23:00 till 04:00. Entrance is at €6. FRIDAYS Bridge Bar Jazz Nights Live jazz every Friday night at Bridge Bar, by Victoria Gate, Valletta from 21:00. Line up of locally established jazz musicians includes Marc Galea, Lawrie Simpson, Walter Vella, Effie Azzopardi and Eric Santucci. The schedule will also include some foreign surprises, visiting sporadically through the summer. JULY 30 Cyber Sounds Party at Amazonia VIP, Bugibba from 23:00. Featuring DJs Intraining, Erik, Ionic, Vidolich. Entrance is free. JULY 30 Glitz Malta Foam Party Gay party at Buskett Roadhouse from 22:00. Entrance is at €10, extra donations are appreciated. EXHIBITIONS AUGUST 2-31 Notebooks A collaborative writing/photography exhibition by Miriam Calleja and Kurt Paris at The Palace Hotel, Sliema. AUGUST 1 – SEPTEMBER 2 Preti 10x10 An exhibition of ten works by Italian artists from Calabria inspired by the works of Mattia Preti and purposely produced for this exhibition at The Heritage Malta Area Exhibition Hall, The Citadel, Victoria, Gozo. Entrance is free. Opening Hours: Mondays-Fridays: 08:00-16:00, Saturdays: 08:00-12:00. SUMMER FESTIVALS UNTIL JULY 31 Farsons Beer Festival Annual beer and music festival at Ta’ Qali National Park, open from 20:00. MUSIC JULY 30 Zucchero The hugely popular Italian singer-songwriter will be performing at MFCC, Ta’ Qali at 21:00 as part of his Chocabek World Tour.
