Notte Bianca | Open Air Gallery

This Notte Bianca is your chance to delve into the world of art and experience it for yourself on a whole new level. As part of the Open Air Gallery, around 70 artists will be displaying their work throughout Valletta’s picturesque streets

The inspiration behind the exercise was to find innovative ways of showcasing art to the public. And while Notte Bianca has offered support, much is being left up to the artists themselves – so visitors can expect plenty of wonderful and artistic surprises on the day!
The exhibition will include the artists Pauleen Micallef, Christine Attard, Cynthia Agius, Malicia Dabrowicz, Joseph Cilia and Veronique Cassar. Other artists have been encouraged to be inspired by the quaint Montmartre Square in Paris, and will be painting on site and selling their work.

Additionally, six artists will be creating art spaces inspired by the streets of Valletta. These original installations can be found in Felix Street and Old Theatre Street (both next to the old market), part of St Christopher Street (close to MITP), a corner in Merchants Street (behind the Parliament Building), part of Archbishop Street (near Lower Barrakka), and St Dominic Street (corner with the lower part of Old Bakery Street).

Meanwhile, there will be many other fantastic and artistically-inspired projects taking place all over the city. This year, Notte Bianca aims to allow artists to reach out to a wider audience and to engage and inspire them. The team behind this project has created intimate spaces where visitors and art meet. It does away with the formality of traditional exhibitions and galleries by presenting various forms of artistic expressions within interesting settings.

The project is a Maltese milestone in its own right. All those involved are hoping this initiative will encourage the public to open their hearts to this amazing world, and to expand art appreciation beyond those who are already very enthusiastic about it.
