WATCH | Woman shot dead in Żabbar house, suspected killer arrested

Police are investigating the murder of a woman who was murdered in Triq Corrado, Żabbar.
Sources close to the investigation identified the victim as Charlotte Zammit. She is the mother of Liam Debono, who was accused of the attempted murder of police constable Simon Schembri.
The suspect, who is under arrest, has been identified as Roderick Azzopardi. In 2017, he was found guilty of domestic violence against the victim.
Police officers and a forensic team descended upon the quiet street on Saturday afternoon after reports of shots fired reached the police at around 3pm.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the corpse of a 44-year-old woman in the bedroom. The woman lives in Xagħjra.
The suspect, a 42-year-old who lives in Żabbar, was also found inside the house. He is currently being interrogated and is under arrest.
A police spokesperson stated that the victim and the suspect were once partners, and that the man was found guilty of a domestic violence episode involving the victim in 2016. He was sentenced to one year in jail a year later.
The spokesperson said another report involving insults and was acquitted of his charges.
Duty magistrate Monica Borg Galea has launched an inquiry in parallel with police investigations.
