February marks the last of the cold season on the sunny rock, and hasn’t it been cold this winter? As we zip up our jackets and make full use of all our woollies we are looking for ways to keep warm, and nothing is quite as warming as a piping hot bowl of soup. Though soup keeps you warm on the inside, does it really satisfy your hunger? The answer to that is it depends on what you put into your soups. Michael Diacono makes some hearty soups that are just as sure to keep you satisfied as they are to keep you warm. Lentils, potatoes, seafood, the list of soup ingredients is only limited by your imagination!

Just before the cold starts to let up and give way to spring we celebrate carnival and where better to do that than in Nadur in Gozo. Voted as some of the best outside of Brazil, our sister island offers some great opportunities for costumes and hedonism. Get our guide to a safe carnival in Gozo right here.

As always, if the cold starts to get you down, plan a holiday somewhere warm and sunny. Marc Casolani is wandering through Australia, off the beaten track, in Arnhem Land, home to the Yolgnu tribes of the Aboriginal people of the north.
