Trailer Park | The Dark Knight Rises

An official trailer to the long-awaited second sequel of Christopher Nolan's hugely successful Batman saga finally hits the web.

After months of meticulously constructed fan-made fakes and shaky, grainy pirate footage of the real thing, Warner Bros. has finally released the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises - the third (and most probably final) instalment of director Christopher Nolan's gritty reboot of the Batman franchise, set for release in America on July 20, 2012.

Not much is revealed about the plot from the teaser, but from what we can tell, Batman will be summoned back to fight for Gotham City after a new evil takes hold of the metropolis that made him into a scapegoat and spat him out during the last film - 2008's The Dark Knight.

Following the tragic demise of Heath Ledger that year, it is unlikely that Joker will be making a comeback. However, the villains are no less formidable this time around: Inception's Tom Hardy will be playing the muscular menace Bane, while Anne Hathaway will take on the role of Selina Kyle... aka Catwoman.
