A house burglar was jailed five years after admitting to a string of thefts.

26 year-old Aaron Ritchie from Fgura was jailed for five years by Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, after he admitted to a string of thefts from homes belonging to foreigners in Mellieha, St. Paul's Bay, Swieqi and L-Ibragg.

Ritchie, who was also charged of committing the thefts while under three probation orders and also for relapsing, admitted to making off with an estimated €27,000 in stolen items.

Among the items he stole were €5,000 in cash, €7,000 worth of jewellery, wrist watches, Apple IPads, phones, and Hi-Fi equipment.
