Jailed seven years for trafficking in ecstacy

A 26 year-old man from St. Paul’s Bay was this morning jailed for seven years and fined €15,000 after admitting before standing trail for trafficking in ecstacy a few blocks away from the Junior College in Msida.

Andrè Falzon, 26 of St. Paul's Bay was this morning handed a seven year jail term, and fined €15,000 after he admitted before Mr. Justice Michael Mallia of trafficking in ecstacy outside the Junior College campus in Msida.

Falzon was arrested in 2005 by drug squad police officers. He resisted arrest and injured a policeman in the process.

When handing judgment, Mr. Justice Mallia took note of the early guilty plea registered by the accused, but also noted that Falzon was caught in possession of 346 ecstacy pills.

He was also found to be in possession of heroin.

Falzon was assisted by lawyer Veroique Dalli, while the prosecution was led by Lara Lanfranco and Charlene Camilleri Zarb from the Attorney General's Office.
