Remanded on serious drug trafficking charges

A 22 year-old plasterer from Niger, residing in Gzira was remanded in custody he was charged with serious drug trafficking.

Mubarak Bawa, 22 of Niger, but residing in Gzira pleaded not guilty to trafficking 700 grams of heroin.

Bawa, who appeared before Magistrate Giovanni Grixti, was charged by Drug Squad investigators to have been found in possession of 700 grams of heroin, conspiracy to trafficking in the drug and to have been in possession of a falsified and tampered passport.

He was remanded into custody.

The Court ordered the freezing of all the man's assets.

Inspectors Dennis Theuma and Johann Fenech prosecuted.
