A 52 year-old man from Devonport has been arrested by the Police in Britain, in connection to the murder of Maltese pensioner Michael Brincat, 76, who was discovered dead in his flat on February 6.

Brincat, known locally as Maltese Mike, was found at his flat in Malborough House, Devonport. It is believed that he died from asphyxiation.

Police said the 52-year-old suspect is in police custody and awaiting questioning.

Detective Superintendentt Paul Burgan said: "I want to be clear that there are still a number of lines of enquiry to be completed and this investigation is very much ongoing."

Plymouth Police yesterday released a photo supplied by members of Michael Brincat's family in Malta. Although it is around six years old, it was taken during his last visit to the island and it is understood to have remained a good likeness of him.
