The PN media has been slapped by two more libels, filed by General Workers Union secretary general Tony Zarb, for reports and comments made during broadcasts on Net Television and printed on 'il-Mument' newspaper last Sunday.

In a statement issued this morning, the GWU said: "Reports on il-mument, repeated on NET television on the GWU are part of an orchestrated attack on the union by the PN with the intent of rubbishing its struggle against precarious work."

The GWU explained that several "contradictory, deceitful and slanderous allegations" were published by il-mument and NET television in an interview they carried with Samuel Grech, the president of a small union representing Arriva workers.

The GWU said the PN of publishing and airing an interview with Samuel Grech, in which the GWU was accused of signing a collective agreement which puts Arriva workers in precarious conditions, such as not being entitled to the full cost of living adjustment.

The libels were filed against Nathaniel Attard, Head of News at Media.Link and Victor Camilleri, editor of 'il-Mument' and Samuel Grech.

I advice Joseph that a new Labour government should amend the Libel laws and libel cases heard as soon as possible especially during elections time. It has become a habit by gonzipn/pn to throw allegations that invite libel measures to be taken knowing that thay won't go for a hearing in good time. Two cases of such low level politics are the allegations against Labour Minister Portelli and Laylay and Eddy's lie about Dr Alfred Sant. Something has to be done to stop this low life practice.
