Drug addict threatens sister with syringe

A drug addict conditionally discharged after admitting to threatening his sister with a drug syringe and stealing to finance his habit.

Roderick Tabone, 25 of Zurrieq was given a three-year conditional discharge and placed under probation after pleading guilty to threatening his sister with a drug syringe.

Prosecuting officer Kevin Pulis told the court that on 5 October, at around 6:15pm, the accused, a drug addict, threatened his sister Magdalene with a used syringe.

He was also charged with having heroin in his possession, stealing over €2,000 in jewellery, photographic equipment and cash from his sister and handling other stolen property.

The accused, pleaded guilty to all charges.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke handed Tabone a three-year conditional discharge, put him under probation for three years and ordered that he is to follow a drug rehabilitation programme.

Inspector Kevin Pulis prosecuted while lawyers Marion Camilleri and Franco Debono appeared for the accused.
