Two reinstated police officers aged between 60 and 70

13 police officers out of the 135 reinstated since March 2013 are over 65 years old

Two newly reinstated police officers are aged between 70 and 80 while another 11 are aged between 65 and 69, home affairs minister Carmelo Abela revealed in Parliament.

Replying to a Parliamentary question by opposition MP Jason Azzopardi, the recently appointed minister said that out of the 135 officers who returned to the corps since March 2013, four are aged between 35 and 44 years, 55 are between 45 and 54 years and 63 are between 55 and 64 years.

While noting that the force would be concentrating its efforts on recruiting new officers, Abela added that the police force was currently revising its recruitment process to ensure that reserve officers reinstated in the corps are capable of carrying out all necessary duties in a satisfactory manner.
