Thief gets seven months after failed robbery

The 34-year-old man was charged with stealing €125 in cash from a bakery Birzebbugia last night. He was also charged with attacking the baker.

A Libyan man was left feeling the heat twice after he unsuccessfully tried robbing a bakery early this morning.

Abdul Hamid Saeid, 34, was arraigned before Magistrate Doreen Clarke charged with stealing €125 in cash from a bakery Birzebbugia last night. He was also charged with attacking the baker.

Saeid appeared in court with a prominent black eye, alleged by sources to have been caused by the baker himself, who managed to detain the escaping thief after a violent struggle.

The thief admitted to all charges and was sentenced to seven months in jail.
