The thefts took place two shops, in Valletta and St Paul's Bay

Three Romanian men have received suspended jail sentences after they admitted to stealing perfume from a Valletta shop and a St.Paul’s Bay pharmacy.

Teodor Iulian Mancea, 24, Iulian Chermenschi, 28 and Barbu Costica, 33, were arraigned before Magistrate Neville Camilleri charged with aggravated theft.

Inspector Priscilla Caruana charged the three men with the robbery of over €232 worth of perfumes from Roseberry in Valletta last Saturday and having also robbed El Medina Pharmacy in St. Paul’s Bay on the 13 March.

Teodor Mancea alone was also charged with stealing a mobile phone from Ryan’s Pub on the 17 March and with handling stolen goods.  Mancea was further charged with refusing to give his details to the police, without good reason.

All three men pleaded guilty.

Mancea was jailed for two years suspended for four, whilst Chermenschi and Costica were both sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment suspended for three years.

Lawyer Noel Bartolo appeared for Mancea and Chermenschi. Lawyer Roberto Montalto was defence counsel for Costica.
