Would-be thief jailed for a year

A man has been jailed for a year after being found guilty of attempting to steal from a Valletta fashion outlet.

Denis Prokofjev, 33, from Azerbaijan, was charged with the attempted theft, which took place yesterday at around 5:00pm.

Inspector Priscilla Caruana Lee also charged the man with leading a vagrant and idle life and breaching the conditions of a suspended sentence.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri found the man guilty and jailed him for one year. Prokofjev informed the court of his intention to appeal.
