11-year-old run over in Sliema

An 11-year-old boy was run over by a car on Tower Road, Sliema at 12:30am earlier this morning.

The car, a red, Jaguar S-Type driven by an Qormi man, 21, was being driven in the direction of St Julian’s.

The boy, who is a foreigner, was taken to Mater Dei hospital where he was certified to be suffering of grave injuries but not in danger of death.

The driver was taken in police custody. Duty magistrate Dr M.A. Farrugia is carrying out an inquiry.
