Government responsible for transport disaster – PL

The government is responsible for the disaster in the transport system, the Labour Party said.

The Opposition’s spokesman for transport Joseph Sammut reiterated that government should be held responsible for the new public transport system which he said is proving itself to be a “disaster”.

“Government has spent a year and a half and over €300,00 in consultancy, of which half were given to the Nationalist candidate Georg Sapiano,” Sammut said. “Up until the eve of the launch of the new system, Sapiano had been taking all the credit.”

According to Sammut, “instead of admitting their incompetence and apologise to the public, those same people are now pointing their fingers at a minority of the workers who didn’t turn up for work.”

He added that the public is now being presented by more “arrogance” thanks to Transport Minister Austin Gatt and Emanuel Delia, head of the Transport Ministry's secretariat.
