Vodafone RBS Team in Scrap-for-Cash charitable initiative

Employees at Vodafone Malta’s Installation and RBS (Radio Base Stations) Department are regularly scrapping standby supply battery systems and other obsolete equipment in exchange for cash that is being donated to St Joseph Home in Santa Venera.

The battery systems and other equipment are being scrapped in an environmentally-sound manner at Borani Scrap Metals.

For each delivery, the Vodafone team is being refunded according to weight and the number of battery systems thrown out.

Over the past year the team has collected amodest amount of fundsto which Vodafone management agreed would go to charity.

The funds will help St Joseph Home organise a summer event for residents.

This initiative follows an abseiling event for charity held by the same Team at St Joseph home earlier this year.

Leslie Spiteri, Installation and RBS Maintenance Manager at Vodafone Malta, said: “The joy we felt when we saw the happy faces of the children at St Joseph Home, when we helped for the first time, is difficult to put in words.   We got to love the children there and we truly admire Fr Frank Cini for the work he carries out and for how he manages the home. We wanted to keep up our efforts to extend a helping hand to the home.  We hope our small gesture will help make the lives of the children that little brighter”.
