Six injured in traffic accident, driver critical
A 31-year-old woman is in danger of losing her life, whilst a 36-year-old man and an 11-year-old girl suffered grievous injuries, following a traffic accident last night in Tarxien.
At around 2am, the Police were informed that a traffic accident had taken place in Triq il-Barrani, Tarxien, the Police said in a statement.
Preliminary investigation revealed how two cars, a Seat Cordoba driven by a 32-year-old man from Qormi and a Fiat Punto driven by a 31-year-old woman from Birkirkara, collided as they were driving from Birzebbuga to Rahal Gdid.
The Fiat Punto was also carrying a 36-year-old man from Qormi, two girls aged two and 11 years, and two boys aged four and six. An ambulance was called on location as all passengers and driver required medical assistance.
The woman is in critical condition, whilst the 36-year-old and the 11-year-old suffered grievous injuries. The rest of the children are also being kept at Mater Dei Hospital for the light injuries they suffered.
The driver of the Seat Cordoba went unharmed.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Health Authorities are calling on the general public to donate blood at the Guardamangia Centre.
