Disgraced former Chief Justice released from custody

Disgraced former Chief Justice Noel Arrigo has been released from arrest after serving 22 months out of a 33 month jail term for corruption.

Noel Arrigo was released from the forensic unit at Mount Carmel Hospital in Attard shortly after 7pm.

He was convicted by a court in 2009 of bribery, trading in influence and revealing official secrets in a case that rocked the judicial system. A fellow judge, Patrick Vella was also convicted and served two years in prison for accepting a bribe to reduce a jail term on appeal of a convicted drug trafficker.
