Three unions meet to discuss future relations

For the first time in the recent history of trade unionism in Malta, the three confederations of Malta’s trade unions, the CMTU, ForUM and GWU, held a preliminary meeting in order to discuss their future relations.

The meeting was chaired by Prof Edward Zammit who some time ago was invited by John Monks, the ex Secretary General of ETUC, to convene the meeting and to act as moderator among Malta’s three trade union confederations.

“The meeting was a positive one, which augurs well for the future. The three organizations agreed to start holding regular meetings and to explore ways of closer collaboration among them,” Zammit said.
