'Vision of hope' is Labour's offer to families - Joseph Muscat
Labour Government would improve employment, reduce utility bills and give hope to all families.
In a press statement, the Labour Party criticised the Nationalist Government for what it described as "incompetence and arrogance", echoing Opposition Leader Joseph Muscat call for transparency of the financial sector..
“Families want to be offered a vision of hope and stability from their government,” Labour quoted Muscat as saying during the annual general conference of the party's Birgu committee..
Muscat was quoted saying that “the three main priorities of a Labour government will be the economy, energy and education.”
He assured those present that Labour in government will "lower electricity and water bills" given that they have nothing to do with the cost of oil.
Regarding employment, the PL was determined to help all those not managing to find dignified work, whilst also supporting those already successful.
“We need to start comparing our country to more developed countries in order for us to move forward as a whole and improve,” Muscat said.
Although the University’s B. Ed and PGCE course student intake will increase, Muscat criticised the delay for action taken by the Government. He said it should be the Government’s responsibility to “anticipate such problems” and prevent bad decisions from being made on the eve of the course.
Muscat’s plan to fight Local Council bureaucracy, was reiterated and emphasis was placed on the prevention of allowing local councils to become extensions of the government.
“Local councils should be advocates for families and citizens to protect them against this same bureaucracy,” said Muscat.
