Full-time employment increases by 2.2%
Registered full-time employees increases to 148,546 since May 2010 accounting for increases in health and social sectors, and real estate, renting and business activities sector.
According to Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) figures, the number of full-time employed persons during May stood at 148,546 while the number of registered unemployed decreased to 6,366, the National Statistics Office said.
A decrease of 105 persons was recorded in construction and transport sector whilst a decrease of 58 persons was registered in storage and communication sectors.
Registered full-time self-employed persons decreased by 0.2% to 17,549 since May 2010 and employees working on a full-time basis increased by 3,213 persons to 130,997 during the same period.
The public sector accounted for a total of 41,225 employed persons registering an increase of 1.9% when compared with 2010. Health and social work recorded significant increases whilst decreased numbers where recording in construction and manufacturing.
Part-time employment on the other hand, increased by 2,247 persons with 56.4% - mostly women - of total part-time employment registered as their primary occupation. Most of the 22,708 part-time employees were mostly male registering as a secondary occupation.
